Appalachian Mountains

The Appalachian Mountains are located in the eastern North America, running from Newfoundland Canada to central Alabama in the US, a distance of 2,050 miles. The highest mountain in the Appalachians is Mount Mitchell (6684 ft) in North Carolina. The name is derived from “Apalchen,” the transcribed version of the name of a Native American village near present-day Tallahassee, Florida.
