I’ve settled in to my new home in Southern California and am enjoying the area immensely. The mornings are cool and misty, with low-hanging clouds covering the sky. By mid-morning, the clouds give way to sunshine and it warms up, but not too much: the highs this week were in the 70s! Angeles National Forest is just a few minutes from my house, and I’ve already begun exploring nearby hiking trails. I’m looking forward to the rest of the summer here!
After completing a cross country road trip, it was high time to do some laundry!
Times Have Changed
After work, I hiked up to the ruins of the Echo Mountain train station. It was a great hike, and the views from up there are awesome! What really captured my interest, however, were the huge iron gears left there.
CalTech’s campus is characterized by a lot of Spanish architecture, including these long passages with columns on one side. This week was finals week for the students, so I saw a few wandering around campus.
Change in Foliage
Southern California doesn’t sport many deciduous trees; instead, the foliage consists mostly of pines and palms.
I took the front bumper off my car this week to inspect the A/C condenser.
